Description: There was no endpoint listening at https://subscriptionservices.omaticsoftware.com/licenseservice.svc
Environment: All
Version: 3.0+

Answer:

This is the result of the installed Omatic application not being able to reach the licensing servers here at Omatic Software. Every time the application launches, it needs to "phone home" to look for updates, and to verify licensing. If it cannot reach our servers, it will not function.

The aforementioned "phone home", and all other non-secure traffic, goes out as traffic on Port 443 with SSL. This type of traffic on Port 443 is often blocked, and in these cases an exception will need to be made for the application(s). Some of the places we see this traffic get blocked are: proxy servers, firewalls (local to the workstation, as well as at the network level), virus scanners (local and network), and routers.

Omatic applications reach out to this URL: https://subscriptionservices.omaticsoftware.com

This URL points to Windows Azure services, therefore it will not have a static IP address. Depending on the your geographical location, and the Azure server loads, the resolving IP Address may be different every time it is called. As a result IT administrators will need to allow the traffic through by name.

Like the other cloud services Microsoft publishes a list of IP address for its services but warns they can be changed at any time without notice: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/dn175718.aspx

Make sure you can browse to: https://subscriptionservices.omaticsoftware.com/licenseservice.svc

If you can browse to the above linked page (see below screenshot) but the Omatic application can still not authenticate licensing, please download the below linked Omatic License Tester.

Omatic License Tester is attached.

Once downloaded, unzip/extract the archive and enter the directory. Then Double Click on the LicenseTester.exe to launch the testing app. Then Select 'Test Subscription Service' to begin the test. You will either see a 'Connection to Subscription Service successful' message or if it fails, you will see the error stack indicating why it failed.
