We have a need of importing appeals. Is there a way to do this with IOM? i do not see this as an option in the mapping except for with a gift field, but I do not want to import a gift, just an appeal.
Yes, this is a brand new feature in IOM (1.9.1.02 or higher). Just map the "Constituent Appeal - Appeal" field up, then match all the other appeal fields up to that field number to "group" your appeal fields together. Also check out the "Appeals" tab in profile setup where you can set the criteria to match on an existing appeal and update it! By the way, if you're doing segmentation for your appeal mailings, I hope you're using Segment-O-Matic!

Hi Gina,
We just released version 1.9.1.03 of Import-O-Matic that does include the ability to import Constituent Appeals. You can download the latest version by going to http://www.omaticsoftware.com/Forums/tabid/108/aft/146/Default.aspx. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Best,

Sorry I should have checked there first, but I now am having the problem of the link you provided takes me to a page that can not be displayed. Also I can't click on any of the Import-O-Matic Update Topics. They are greyed out. I am needing to download the latest version. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

This new update is great! I do still have a problem importing my file that I don't know if you would have a solution for. My file that I get has the constituent ID and the appeal and package. I would like to be able to force in the response and current system date. The only type of default in RE that would let me choose these options is a constituent default, but this is not going to work because I do have appeal information in my file and mapping, so it ignores the default information, and if a constituent has appeals already on their record, it errors out as an excetption. I would like to be able to use a default if at all possible because we would like this to be as automatic as possible. Is there any way to maybe add options to the individual and organization defaults to choose if you would like to add the new appeal with the default information. I could see this being useful in other situations like with constituent codes or other things as well. I hope this makes sense or if you have ideas for another solution that would be great!

Hi Gina,
For you to have a successful import, you will need to include the columns that you want to populate for the appeal in your data file. It appears that when trying to import the Appeal with the Appeal and Package in your data file it will see that value and not create a duplicate Appeal. I will check in with our programmers to make sure that it is functioning as designed.
Additionally, I suggest filing a suggestion with Blackbaud to have them add Package as an option in the Appeal Default Sets. I know that this is something that has been requested before. Please let me know if you have additional questions.
