This error can occur when importing membership information if there is a mismatch between the format in the data file and what The Raisers Edge is expecting.
To see the format RE is expecting, check the RE User Options in RE-->Tools-->User Options-->Records-->Memberships
After checking the format, make sure the Code table on the General tab is set to correspond.
If using long descriptions, the check box beside Use long description for display and data entry under Code Tables should be selected. If using short descriptions, the box should be deselected.
