Product: SegmentOmatic
Description: How to configure a profile
Environment: All
Version: All
Answer:
All tasks for a specific segmentation project are performed using a profile. From here you will define segmentation hierarchies, create segments, assign appeals to those segments, write appeal information to each constituent record within each segment, and create export files for use with mailings or other follow up steps.

General
Exclude constituents
By default all constituents selected by the queries in your query hierarchy are segmented. To exclude some constituents from the segmentation process entirely, click on the browse (…) button and select a query of those constituents.
Include non-constituent records from List Management
In your organization uses ImportOmatic with the List Management module, select this option to include non-constituent list members in your segmentation
Gifts to include
By default all gifts in your database are considered when performing RFM segmentation. To define specific gifts for use in the RFM segmentation, such as only gifts for certain funds or only gifts with a specific appeal, click on the browse (…) button and select a query of those gifts.
Gift Start Range and Gift End Range
To only use gifts within a gift date range in the RFM segmentation, select one or both of these options and enter a date. You may also use the down arrow button to select a date from a calendar.
Combine head of household
Select this option to consider spouses as a single constituent and consider all of their gifts for RFM segmentation purposes.
Include soft credits
Indicate whether soft credits should be included when performing RFM segmentation. Select whether the soft credit calculation should use the soft credit distribution on the gift record, be split evenly among all soft credit recipients, or count the full amount for all soft credit recipients.
Prevent other users from making changes to this Profile
If selected, other users will be able to view the profile configuration but will be unable to make any changes.
This restriction applies to editing the configuration only; other users will still be able to run the profile.
Prevent other users from refreshing this profile
If selected, other users will be able to open a segmented profile, but they will be unable to rerun the segmentation.
This restriction applies to refreshing the configuration only; other users will still be able to allocate appeals and assign those appeals to constituents
Projected response %
Enter your estimates for what you guess a low rate, medium rate, and high rate of response to your outreach campaign will be.
Segmentation
Segments are built by defining the various hierarchies that you wish to segment on. The more hierarchies and the more segments within the hierarchies results in more – and more granular – segmentation.
Right Panel - Hierarchies
Use the Create New button to create a new hierarchy to add to the profile.
Use the down arrow on the Add button and select Add from Template to copy a hierarchy template into this profile. For more information on creating hierarchy templates, please see this solution.
Add as many hierarchies as needed for your segmentation project.
To edit a hierarchy, select it and double click to open it. To delete a hierarchy, select it and click the Delete button.
Use the up/down arrows on the right to change the hierarchy sequence.
Left Panel - Segments
Use the + and - buttons to expand and collapse each segmentation node.
There may be times when each and every segment and child segment may be too granular. To combine segments, right click on a parent segment and select Consolidate child nodes into this node to combine all child, grandchild, great grandchild, etc nodes into the selected node.
To restore the child segments, right click and select Expand child nodes.
