Answer:

To create a default set in The Raiser’s Edge, select Tools--> Organize/Create Defaults from the menu bar. Highlight the appropriate record type (e.g. Individuals) and click New. Enter all of the values you would like to auto-fill on the record, name and then save the Default Set.

To apply a default set while importing list members
  1. In the List Management profile, go to Defaults in the left side navigation pane
  2. In the drop down beside Individuals, select the desired default set
  3. Import the list as usual

To apply a default set to an existing list member
  1. Highlight the list member(s) in the list
  2. Right click and select Apply individual default set. Select the desired default set from the menu
