IOM follows RE regarding settings for any field that is used during import processing.You may look at your RE user settings to determine which format you need. 

To locate the user settings in RE, Go to the tool bar at the top of the view within RE > Tools >General Tab > Under 'Code Tables'. The check box option for "Use long description for display and data entry" is the setting that will have impact on the format RE is expecting from the imported data. If the box is checked, use the long description. If  the box is unchecked, use the short description.
