Description: This solution describes how to import primary addressee/salutations

Environment: All

Version: All

Answer: There are four methods to accomplish this addition:

Method 1:  Add the desired addressee/salutation values to a default set within RE and then associate that individual default set that contains the addressee/salutation values with the profile the data will be paired with to import into RE.

Method 2:
Select the desired addressee/salutation format from the primary addressee/salutation drop down menu located within the IOM profile under "Constituents" in the profile left hand navigation pane. This method will only apply to brand new records.

Method 3: Add the desired addressee/salutation values to the data file in columns. You would need to either type in the appropriate formatting for the constituent addressee/salutation or enter the id from the addressee/salutation from RE Configuration. Either will work. If you type the format (ex. Mr. John Smith) instead of using the ID (ex. 41), the addressee/salutation will be added as "editable" in RE.

Method 4: This method is only applicable if the primary addressee/salutation format used will be the same for all incoming records and that every incoming record old and new will have the format assigned or updated. If this is true, you may use virtual fields within the profile to add the primary addressee/salutation. The value (format or ID) will live in the "Field Name" column and the function to use will the the "Static Field (Field Name)" selection.

Choose one method. You do not need to co-mingle methods. If you only want to add these additional addressee/salutation values to new constituents, the default set added to the profile in the "new individuals" default drop down or the default primary addressee/salutation drop down menu would be a good selection.

To locate the "ID" for the selected addressee/salutation formula in RE:

Open RE, go to Configuration >  Addressees/Salutations. Right click on any formula value within the list and choose to Preview--> Addressee/Salutations Report.

This report will give you the ID for the formulas/formats you would like to use for the addressees and salutations.

For versions 3.3.2.5 and Earlier:

The IDs for the primary addressee and salutation will be mapped to Record Type = Constituent Field and Value Type = Primary Addressee ID (or Primary Salutation ID)

For the additional addressee and salutation, these will be mapped to Record Type = Additional Addressee (ID) (or Additional Salutation (ID)) and Value Type = <your add/sal type, such as Informal>

For version 3.4 and Later:

The IDs for the primary addressee and salutation will be mapped to Raiser's Edge Field = Constituent > Bio > Primary Addressee Id  (or Primary Salutation ID)

For the additional addressee and salutation, these will be mapped to Raiser's Edge Field  = Additional Add/Sals > Add/Sal (ID) > (Whatever the add/sal selection is for the type, such as Informal).

For the individual relationship (spouse):

You can map a primary addressee/salutation value for individual relationships, but not additional addressee/salutation values. In order to add additional addressee/salutation values to the spouse you will need to do a second pass of the data with the spouse mapped as the main constituent instead.

Note:

In order to update existing addressee/salutations, you will need to ensure that you have the following check box option selected within the profile:
