Description: This solution describes how duplicate criteria works

Version: All

Environment: All

Answer:

Duplicate criteria sets allow the gathering of records that meet the selected criteria to be presented for the possibility of matching during the importing process. Existing records that meet the criteria requested within the duplicate criteria sets in use on the IOM profile will appear as possible duplicate suggestions. Matching to the appropriate suggested records will prevent adding duplicate records to your RE database.

Criteria selected within the same duplicate set works based on an "And" operator. In the screen shot below the selected criteria will locate existing records that match based on 12 characters of the Address Block,

6 characters of the City field, and the State field abbreviation. The "And" operator requires that  all criteria be present on the existing record to be offered and considered as a possible duplicate.

It is possible to use multiple duplicate criteria sets within any IOM profile. If you are using more than one criteria set on an IOM profile, they will operate with an "Or" operator. In the screen shot below the selected criteria will locate existing records that match based on the criteria from each duplicate criteria set selected on the IOM profile. In this example all existing records that match the first criteria set of the first 5 characters of the First Name and the first 10 characters of the Last Name will be gathered for suggestion then the "Or" operator will work to gather the second set of criteria. The second set of possible duplicate records gathered will consist of records that match by 12 characters of the Address Block, 6 characters of the City field, and the State field abbreviation.
