Description: This solution describes how to add to an existing dictionary to translate an incoming value into a blank value
To add a value to an existing dictionary to translate an incoming value to blank, you may use the following steps and screen shots as an example:
1. Open the dictionary in question by navigating within IOM > Configuration to "Dictionaries". Once highlighted, locate the dictionary in question and double click on it to open the dictionary.
2. In the field on the left labeled "Replacement Value", you will position your cursor in that field and select the "Enter" key on your keyboard. This will insert a value that appears as "-Blank-".
3. Next you will highlight the value of "-Blank-" that you just entered in the replacement value field in step 2. Keep the value highlighted and then position your cursor into the field on the right labeled "Value to Match On". Insert a value of zero and select the "Enter" key on your keyboard. This will associate the incoming value of "0" with the "-Blank-" replacement value and convert all incoming zeros for the birth date column into a blank value, so that nothing will appear. Save the dictionary.
4. Finally you will navigate to "Profiles" under "Import" within IOM > Configuration. Open the profile in question and locate the column where the birth date is mapped. In the "Dictionary" column (column with a small icon of colorful books", click and select the dictionary that was edited (only if it is not already associated with the column, otherwise you may skip step 4).
