Description: Instructions on how to turn off processing formula setting for required field mapping
Environment: Destination endpoint: Salesforce Contacts and Any Objects and Salesforce Accounts and Any Objects
Source systems: Flat file and DonorDrive; submit a request if another system is needed
Version: All
Answer:
New to the Processing Formula Settings page for the Salesforce and Any Objects and Accounts and Any Objects endpoints is the Turn off required field mapping setting.
Select this setting to disable mandatory fields—these fields can still be filled, but they won’t be required for mapping.
We recommend using this setting for when you only want to update records in Salesforce. For example, you may wish to update opportunities in Salesforce and want to use ID matching instead of mapping the Last Name or Account Name fields.
Note: Fields that are missing and required for creation may cause destination exceptions if you attempt to add new records of any kind.
By default, Turn off required field mapping is de-selected, and required fields will display with the red asterisk.
Select Turn off required field mapping to disable requirements for fields in mapping. unless “child-object matching” is used (an example is coming up).
To locate existing records in Salesforce and update, we recommend mapping the Contact ID (Match Only) field if not using the Last Name or Account Name fields, depending on the Salesforce Any Object formula.
Contacts and Any Object
Accounts and Any Object
Note: When child-object matching is set to match on a field, that field automatically becomes required to map or define, regardless of the Turn off required fields for mapping setting.
